Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

  • The sauna is open daily from 6am to 11pm. Please check our website or contact us for any special holiday hours. You can see our Google business profile listing here: https://g.co/kgs/oVh2XMD

  • Our sauna is located inside the beautiful Willard Bay State Park, less than a minute from the northern entrance. For directions, please visit our Contact page. Also, we advise using Google Maps rather than Apple Maps for navigation to the sauna.

  • A swimsuit, two towels (one to sit on and one to dry yourself off with afterwards), flip-flops, and a bottle of water. No food is allowed in the sauna room, although it’s always a good idea to have a snack between sauna rounds or after working up a sweat.

  • Unfortunately we don’t currently have lockers inside the sauna due to space constraints. However, for privacy and security purposes, the front door of the sauna is locked at all times and there are hooks on which to hang clothes and towels inside the entry / changing room of the sauna. There are also restrooms that are maintained by the park a very short distance (walking) from the sauna.

Facilities and Services

  • Our facilities include private sauna rooms, cold plunge, bucket shower, Adirondacks chairs, speaker for music (you can plug in your phone), as well as a shelf full of accoutrements (essential oils, reading materials, card games, and more). Nearby there are men’s and women’s restrooms managed by the park and open year-round.

  • All our saunas are shared (or communal), for up to six spaces per session, ensuring a social experience for our guests. But you can reach out to us to learn about options for booking the whole sauna for a private session.

Experience and Tips

  • Stay hydrated before and after your session, avoid heavy meals beforehand, and relax to maximize the benefits of the sauna.

  • Guests with certain medical conditions, such as heart problems, respiratory issues, or pregnancy, should consult a doctor before using the sauna. If you feel unwell, please avoid using the sauna.

  • For new sauna users, spending 10-15 minutes per round with cool-downs in between is recommended.

Your first round might be longer, especially if you start with a cold body temperature. That first sweat can take 10-15 minutes. Remember: listen to your body. It’s not a competition to see who can withstand the highest amount of heat the longest.

Consider 2-3 rounds with cold showers (there are both pull-chain bucket showers and regular spray / pillar showers available) or a plunge in the pond in between to maximize health benefits.

Above all else, take it easy and listen to your body.
